Feel free to move this to a new thread, perhaps "How I Use CR Companion"??
Writing this in response to the I-don't-use-the-filter/censorship crowd.
First of all I like that now when I click on a link within a comment it automatically opens it in a new window. Very convenient.
Second - I use it to quickly get thru a comment thread of 200 or more comments, to get a sense of the adult discussions. I'll use either Very Good and above, or Good and above. Then once I'm current, I'll switch to All Except Irritating so I can enjoy the thread in real time.
Feature suggestion -- Be able to use wildcards in the filter, specifically to handle that DKxxxx poster or others who try to emulate him
i use the companion primarily to weed out the wackos.
this is no different than the slashdot comment rating system - it allows a person to filter some of the noise...if i have the time, i will read all the comments, but if i am in a hurry, then i only want the really good stuff
its not censorship
blow 'em off ken...they dont like it, they dont have to use it.
thom, nullpointer, thanks. And thom, that's pretty much the way I use it. My thought on the critics is that they haven't tried the tool out. But even if, well, taste is hard to measure.
aaron, yes, there is, but it it's a little bit manual at this point. Good question. I'll put up a post describing the process.
It would be great to have the title of the thread on the title bar, or somewhere on the frame. Would make management of multiple threads easier, so I don't accidentally post into the wrong place.
I'm a no squint user (1.93.2.1). When moving back to the HaloScan tab with CR Companion the text size is changed to 100% until I refresh. Not a big problem but thought you'd want to know.
This is really slick. I like the fact that you can choose to read the comment threads without the companion and not see the ratings if you want. This is superior to Slashdot. Great work!
Also, it was gratifying to see my handle at the top of the list in the screenshot:)

Great job here Ken.
Ken,
I read CR on multiple computers. Is there a way to export/import my author settings from one browser to another?
Thanks for making CR so much more readable.
agreed with thom here

Oops, forgot to check "email follow-up comments"... ignore this message!

I'd like the "Authors Box" to show every author, even if you have filtering turned on.
Right now, if there's a post by someone I've marked "Irritating", I have to unfilter, then scrolled down to their name, then click to see it.
What I'd like would be to still see their name in the box, and if I clicked on it, see that post.
PITA, probably, for you... but this is the "feature request" thread.
