1.03 Update
I've put up an update that should fix both the "Communicating with Haloscan" problem, and the problem with polling being dropped.

Mr. Cooper,
I didnt want to clutter up the CR thread with too much OT ramblings so I came over here...
I installed the CR Companion today and really enjoy it. There is one thing I have noticed though, when I highlight a selection of text and use the 'paste selection as quote' button, the text ends up being copied two times into the comment window.
Anonymous, is all the text copied, or just the byline? If it's the latter, this is a feature - you only need to select the text, not the byline, it will be put in for you.
Anonymous, another stupid question: are you highlighting the text before you open the comment window? If so, this is another feature - it automatically pastes the quoted text into the comment, like a reply. Perhaps you're doing this and then pressing paste selection?
Minor bug I've discovered. When a quote is added to a comment, any text following the end of the quote does not follow the normal margins of all other text. (It's all the way on the left). Here's an example of a comment that creates the formatting issue. The text block that begins with "Not only the GSEs" has no left margin:

Seems like my scroll wheel has gone laggy since I updated to 1.03. I've tried changing the refresh rate and turning off "flash author" but no joy. Sometimes it keeps up, but other times it just stops scrolling and waits a second or so.
I don't think I've changed anything else on my machine (other than MS's update last night...).
Ken, thanks for the add on. is anyone else reporting issues with html code? When I try to use the name command, it doesn't show as working in the preview pane.
Ken, I LOVE CR Companion ... and appreciate all of the hard work that you've done.
I have updated to the newest update and it will not find the comment thread .. it always now says "unable to determine post title (post isn't loaded in browser).
I have always tried to make sure that CR is the last thing that I've loaded and wait until it's loading process is done before I click on the comment .. but it just will not find the tread name.
Just in case this is different than what you were thinking, the scroll wheel issue seems to be related to threads that have a lot of comments (300+). Maybe that's a sign I just shouldn't even try to wade through them all.

Ken,
Can you include a download link on the sidebar? I found myself scrolling through your previous post to find one.
Thanks!

Ken,
Re: double copies... I had a feeling it was something I wasnt doing correctly, or didnt know about. Thanks for making me just a bit less ignorant :)

Yancey, how are you creating that quote? CR Companion quotes use the i tag, not the blockquote tag. Did you insert it manually?
If so, an easier way with CRC is to select the text you want to quote, then say Paste Selection as Quote.
I didn't create the comment. That's how the comment appeared to me as I read it.
Ken -

Thanks again for doing this.

So you didn't copy the quote in? Someone did, and they used the blockquote tag, which is probably where the problem is.
Regarding the scroll wheel... I know what's causing it. I'll see if I can speed it up.

Exit: I frankly don't know what the name command is, so that may be part of the problem...
Can you clue me in? Your link was broken.
Mrs. Black Star Ranch, CR just changed his URL. I've posted an update that takes care of this (and fixes a couple of other bugs).
MLM, try the latest version. The previous code was pretty inefficient at updating the currently topmost post.
